"The medicine man performs a rain ceremony in the ceremonial center in which he sends the hummingbird to ask the Water God for rain for a good harvest. In the ceremonial center, the medicine man heals the sick and blesses the corn. He places machuchi leaves in his pipe. He uses feathers for the ceremony. The gourd holds the sacred water. He prepares the foods in the pot and in the bowl, he offers them to the gods in gratitude for success obtained."
